San Diego is not only my native city, but I feel is the best city in the United States. I was very fortunate to grow up here and I am a 3rd Generation San Diegan. My great grandparents came to San Diego in the early 1900s they are buried at Fort Rosecrans in Point Loma just a few miles from where I live. Military brought my family here, as San Diego has a very large military presence with the Navy Base in Coronado and Point Loma, the Marine Corps Training Facility next to the San Diego International Airport, Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, and Maine Base Camp Pendleton. My great grandfather Elmer Nordell was a Chief Torpedoman in WW1. My grandfather, Herbert McCleary also served in WW2 and graduated from San Diego State in 1959 with an Industrial Arts degree. He was a craft shop director for the Boys Club of Chula Vista in 1960, served as Vice President of South Bay School District Central PTA in 1965, and made his career through Advertising in the "Mad Men" Era. My father served in the Army, and my brother served in the Marines.
I also have been very fortunate to travel for work throughout my career, I have been to 34/50 states and out of all the places I have been, to me San Diego still marks the best city to live in, hand down. For one, the weather is great, living on the coast it never gets too hot or too cold. There are so many things to do and see. Beaches and the Bays that opens up for all types of aquatic sports and activities. Fun attractions for the family like Balboa Park, Museums, Sea World, The World Famous San Diego Zoo, and Legoland. San Diego was rated Most Kid Friendly US City to Visit in 2017 by Today.com. I am looking forward to sharing my San Diego Family Experiences and everything this wonderful city has to offer. |
